A record number of Nicaraguans sought asylum in neighboring Costa Rica last year. 

Costa Rican officials say the influx of migrants is the result of a political crackdown against opponents of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. 

Refugees are finding a friendlier reception than they might elsewhere.
