Living through the U.S. Asylum System

December of 2023 was an all-time record month for migrants' detention at the U.S.-Mexico border: almost one-quarter of a million reported by the Border Patrol. In the face of this ongoing migration crisis, the country's humanitarian visa parole program has come under renewed scrutiny. Based on the principles of humanity, this program allows asylum seekers to enter the country. But just how does the process work? Alasdair Baverstock followed up with migrants he first met in Mexico as they were pursuing the elusive American Dream.
